Why Sliding Scale?

The Toolbox for Education and Social Action (TESA) sets a sliding scale cost for most of our products and services. There are a few reasons for this:

  • We want to make sure our products and services are as accessible as possible to people and groups across socio-economic lines. This means making our price ranges flexible (while still being able to pay ourselves).
  • People should have some say in how much they value a resource and therefore how much they want to pay for it.

Sliding Scale for Products:

When choosing a sliding scale price, please keep in mind that we are working to make a living. Therefore, if you are able and willing, we would appreciate it if you would pay at around the “standard” rate (the amount you see originally listed on a product’s page). If you choose to pay less, that is completely fine. However, if you have the capacity, paying slightly more than the standard will make it possible for us to offer lower-rates for those unable to afford the standard prices.

Sliding Scale for Services:

All of TESA’s services are provided on an agreed upon sliding scale,  meaning that you pay however much you can afford: TESA prices all of our services at affordable hourly rates that we scale in accordance to an individual’s or organization’s capacity. If possible, we do not want to turn down working with any dedicated person or group because of financial issues, so TESA will communicate with you and attempt to price our services at an amount that works for your situation.
